Positive reinforcement, praise and more positive reinforcement are the ingredients essential in creating a recipe for success in managing behaviour

Philosophy

The fundamental principle that underpins Creative Care's philosophy to working with children and young people is a Positive Behavioural Management approach to care planning. Positive reinforcement, praise and more positive reinforcement are the ingredients that we feel are essential in creating a recipe for success in managing behaviour. We appreciate that the young people we accommodate will, at times, present us with behaviours that can be difficult to manage. Nevertheless, we at Creative Care believe in building on people's strengths and providing incentives to ensure that our energies and the energies of the young people are channelled and focused upon the positive aspects of their behaviour as opposed to being trapped into the cycle of problem solving. Our successes of this approach are well documented!

At Creative Care we believe that individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders are exactly that, individuals. As a result, we tailor the packages of care we offer around the specific needs of the individual. Our care plans are explicitly committed to the five outcomes set out in the in the Green Paper, Every Child Matters:

  • Being Healthy
  • Staying Safe
  • Enjoying and achieving
  • Making a positive contribution
  • Achieving economic well-being.
